The Bolivian plurinational assembly announced the postponement of the plan to build a road in the protected indigenous territory in the Isiboro Sécure national park (TIPNIS) until 2015, in other words, until after the presidential elections scheduled for October 2014.

This decision was taken following the presentation of a joint report from FIDH and its Bolivian member organisation, APDHB (the permanent human rights assembly) on the violation of the rights of prior consultation with the affected indigenous community.
FIDH and APDHB reported the conclusion of their joint observation mission (November 2012) to Beni and Cochabamba districts. They emphasised the violations of the rights of the TIPNIS indigenous communities to prior, free, informed consultations concerning the construction of the road and urged the Bolivian authorities not to implement the project without the prior consent of the populations concerned.
