Within the framework of its campaign to secure ratification of the ICESCR’s optional protocol, FIDH suggested that members of the African Commission’s Working Group on economic, social and cultural rights bring a resolution calling on African states to ratify this new UN instrument allowing individuals and the UN to challenge rights violations. The African Commission adopted this resolution during its 51st session in April 2012.
