Libya: Back from mission
In January, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) went to Libya on an information gathering mission and to establish contact with the new, rapidly growing civil society in the country. The mission went to Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi, holding lengthy discussions with the representatives of the interim government, members of the National Transition Council (NTC), lawyers, journalists and representatives of human rights organisations.

Representatives of FIDH and CCAJAR have presented Panamanian authorities with evidence that María del Pilar Hurtado,former DAS Director, is neither under threat nor subject to political persecution in Colombia They have accordingly requested authorities to rescind her political exile status, granted in November 2010, to allow her extradition in respect of alleged criminal activities carried out in office.

Globalisation and migration: Importing workers, exporting strawberries
In the province of Huelva, in Andalusia, intensive farming of strawberries, destined to supply European markets early in the season, calls for a large temporary work force for a period of several months. Some 50,000 seasonal workers, mainly foreign migrant workers, are employed on farms each year.
