Colombia/Panama: FIDH and CCAJAR in Panama request extradition of former DAS Director
Representatives of FIDH and CCAJAR have presented Panamanian authorities with evidence that María del Pilar Hurtado,former DAS Director, is neither under threat nor subject to political persecution in Colombia. They have accordingly requested authorities to rescind her political exile status, granted in November 2010, to allow her extradition in respect of alleged criminal activities carried out in office.

Globalisation and migration: Importing workers, exporting strawberries
In the province of Huelva, in Andalusia, intensive farming of strawberries, destined to supply European markets early in the season, calls for a large temporary work force for a period of several months. Some 50,000 seasonal workers, mainly foreign migrant workers, are employed on farms each year. Economic conditions push producers to reduce their costs and to use workers as an adjustment variable.
