STRENGTHENING THE VALUE BASE COMPLYING WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS DELIVERING ON THE PROMISES

The Convention for the Future of Europe is a crucial opportunity to send a strong signal to people inside
and outside Europe that the EU wants to defend its values, including human rights, democracy,
solidarity, and sustainable and equitable development.

The network of Human Rights, Democracy and Conflict Prevention NGOs have jointly identified key
areas of concern with regard to the future of Europe debate. This summary highlights the main points of
the network’s initial submission, and calls on the Convention to address: Human Rights within the EU,
the global role of the EU, and accountability.
