From 2-9 May 2011, FIDH mandated a mission to Tajikistan to investigate the situation of Tajik migrant workers. The mission, undertaken with the participation of FIDH’s partner in Russia, ADC Memorial, met with representatives of the authorities, inter-governmental organisations, NGOs, as well as migrant workers. The mission was organised with the help and support of the Tajik Bureau for Human Rights. In June 2011, FIDH also met with officials from the Tajik Embassy in Moscow.
The preliminary conclusions and recommendations of the mission were shared with participants in the dialogue between the European Union and Tajikistan, held in Dushanbe, from 26 to 27 July 2011.
