Every year, thousands of ships finish their lives on South Asian beaches and
especially in Bangladesh where they are broken down into pieces to be recycled.
Hundreds of children are working in the yards to escape poverty. Children
normally spend 12 hours a day in a toxic environment and work without any
protection. The consequences of such a dangerous labour are obvious on their
body, children suffer from injuries, headaches, dizziness, various
diseases...If the children become « useless », they are sent back to their
villages and become a financial burden for they families.
