Catalonia : declaration from the APDHE
The Association Pro Human Rights of Spain expresses its firm rejection to the excessive use of the force by the State Security Corps during the celebration, yesterday, of the referendum in Catalonia and that brought with consequence that more than 800 people had to be taken care of by the health services.
In a democratic and lawful state it is inadmissible any disproportionate action on the part of the police forces against the citizenship.
As the European Commission has expressed to the Spanish Government, violence can under no circumstances be a political instrument.
From the APDHE we appeal to the different political actors to articulate a constructive dialogue in order to resolve the controversy that has arisen.
