Urgent Resolution on Iraq

The 35th FIDH Congress, aware of the savage massacre against civilian mourners at the holiday of the 10th Ashora in Karbala and Kadmea in Iraq, where hundreds were killed and injured on March 1st, 2004;

This being part of terrorist operations against Iraqi civilians, contributing to the State of chaos which undermines restoration of its sovereignty, independence and the end of the occupation:

The Congress asserts its support to the right of the Iraqi people to self-determination, and the establishment of democratic, unified, and federal Iraq, where human rights are promoted and respected.

The Congress expresses its support to civil society organizations, especially human rights organizations which will contribute to eradicate the remnants of the authoritarian regime and the establishment of a democratic State.
