Two alleged Algerian torturers before the French court

The Mohamed brothers who are accused of the crimes of torture and forced disappearance, committed as part of the fight against terrorism during the civil war have, at last, been brought before the criminal court after ten years of legal proceedings. Following this period of total impunity, this is a “first”.

FIDH lodged a complaint in France against the Mohamed brothers in 2003, on behalf of 7 Algerian plaintiffs.
