Ukraine’s request for ICC jurisdiction : Risk for an Impunity Gap

In April 2014, Ukraine requested the International Criminal Court investigate the crimes committed in the country between November 2013 and 22 February 2014. Following this request, on 25 April 2014 the ICC prosecutor announced a preliminary examination. In June 2014, an FIDH delegation went to Ukraine to meet with the authorities to discuss the extension of ICC jurisdiction in Ukraine and possible ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC.
