On 9-10 July 2013, the United Nations Human Rights Committee considered the second periodic report of Tajikistan on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

In its concluding observations, adopted on 23 July 2013 and issued yesterday, the Committee made recommendations echoing the concerns raised by FIDH and its partners in Tajikistan, in particular on freedom of expression and freedom of the internet, freedom of association and registration of NGOs, corporal punishments in schools, independence of the judiciary and of lawyers, and the rights of refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons.
