FIDH third-party intervention: discrimination in France against same-sex second-parent adoption

On 11 December 2009, FIDH, jointly with ICJ, ILGA-Europe, BAAF and NELFA, submitted written comments concerning second-parent adoption in the case of same-sex couples in France. This third-party intervention in the Gas & Dubois v. France case before the European Court of Human Rights argues that it is discriminatory to deny a child born to an unmarried female-female couple through donor insemination the possibility of being adopted by the female partner of its genetic and legal mother, when this is granted for unmarried male-female couples.
