At the end of the Elysee Summit on Peace and Security in Africa (Paris, 6-7 December 2013), a final statement expressed many of the recommendations that FIDH published in a position paper prior to the Summit.

The systematic inclusion of women in the political and decision-making world, the mainstreaming of human rights at the heart of the “peace and security” concept and the fight against impunity were just some of the issues that Drissa Traoré, a lawyer and an FIDH Vice President spoke about at the preparatory meeting with President François Hollande, issues that were reiterated in the statement that also called for a reform to the United Nations Security Council.
