FIDH third-party intervention: Austrian case on the right to marriage and "family life" of same-sex couples
On 26 June 2007, in a case before the European Court of Human Rights against Austria, FIDH, jointly with ICJ, AIRE Centre and ILGA-Europe, submitted written comments concerning the right of same-sex couples to "family life". This third-party intervention in the Schalk & Kopf v. Austria case argues that same-sex couples must be provided with some means of qualifying for rights or benefits attached to marriage.
