3 October 2022. International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) made a submission to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) ahead of its 85th pre-sessional working group (31 October - 4 November 2022).

The submission highlights how women prisoners in Thailand have continued to endure poor detention conditions that remain below international standards and how the death penalty has been disproportionately imposed on women for drug-related offenses.

The submission also observes the increasing repression against women human rights defenders in Thailand, by state and non-state actors, for their human rights work and the legitimate exercise of their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
