(Brussels) – A number of leading human rights organisations call upon the European Union to suspend the forthcoming EU-China Human Rights Dialogue scheduled for June 22-23, 2017 in Brussels. The dialogue needs a revision to be effective and cannot serve as a shield for contentious issues to be sidestepped or blatantly ignored in other meetings and fora such as the EU failure to take a strong stand on China’s deteriorating human right situation and muzzling of civil society at the UN human rights Council.
