Today, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) submitted a report to the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee (CCPR) on selected civil and political rights in Pakistan.

The report, jointly prepared with the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), raises concerns with regard to: 1) the right to life and the death penalty; 2) the right to freedom of expression; 3) the rights to liberty and freedom of peaceful assembly; and 4) the right to freedom of association.

The CCPR will review the situation of civil and political rights in Pakistan on 17 and 18 October 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.
