On 4 July 2025, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its partner organisation Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB) submitted a joint report to the United Nations (UN) Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The CRPD will examine the DPRK’s initial state report under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 12 August 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.

This FIDH-NKDB report focuses on the situation of the rights of persons with disabilities in the DPRK, with an emphasis on the following issues: equality and non-discrimination; awareness-raising; accessibility, living independently, and mobility; access to justice; education and health; and implementation and monitoring.
