On September 9th, 2024, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) submitted a shadow report ahead of the review of Japan’s ninth periodic report by the United Nations (UN) Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, which will take place on 17 October 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The report, produced with the Center for Prisoners’ Rights (CPR) and the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty (WCADP), provides information on gender-based violence against women in the context of the treatment of female prisoners, including those under death sentence.
