On 28 May 2024, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organization League for the Defence of Human Rights in Iran (LDDHI) published the fourth of their Iran Notes, a series of short thematic briefing notes that analyze the key aspects and root causes of Iran’s ongoing human rights crisis.

The note analyzes the serious violations of women’s rights in Iran. It examines in particular: the discriminatory and oppressive laws that impact women; the commission of femicides and “honor killings” with impunity; the criminalization of abortion; and the violations of the rights to participate in public affairs, to work, and to freedom of movement.

The first Iran Note, published in September 2023, analyzed the judiciary as a tool of repression and fear.

The second Iran Note, published in November 2023, detailed the use of the death penalty.

The third Iran Note, published in February 2024, described the repressive and hostile environment for civil society.
