FIDH assessment of the EU/Iran human rights dialogue


Last year, the European Union decided to engage into a human rights dialogue with the
Islamic Republic of Iran. The FIDH has been following the whole process very closely from
the outset. The FIDH sent its assessment of the human rights situation in Iran to the EU in
September 2002 (see www.fidh.org/communiq/2002/ir2309a.htm), in advance of the launch
of the dialogue. Since one year, three sessions of the human rights dialogue have taken
place and the FIDH had the opportunity to participate in those three sessions.
