Joint briefing paper for the EU-Indonesia human rights dialogue

(Jakarta, Paris) In a briefing paper released today, FIDH and its member organization KontraS raised concerns over various human rights violations in Indonesia ahead of the upcoming human right dialogue between the EU and Indonesia.

The briefing paper covers the following issues:

  Closing civic space in Papua.
  Unnecessary use of force in the policing of public assemblies
  Freedom of expression online threatened.
  No progress towards the abolition of the death penalty.
  Infrastructure and investment projects lead to human rights violations.
  Inadequate Covid-19 handling.
  Failure to address and resolve past human rights violations.

The ninth EU-Indonesia human rights dialogue is scheduled to be held online on 26 May 2021.
