Cambodian Prime Minister issues a directive against companies who violate land and housing rights

On 7 May 2012, the Cambodian Prime Minister issued a directive to “temporarily postpone” the granting of ELCs. The directive mandates that any company found to have violated “applicable procedures and contracts” could have their ELCs withdrawn.

In 2012, violations of land and housing rights continue to take place in Cambodia and victims of land-grabbing from previous years continue to lack full access to justice for loss of land and livelihood. FIDH continued to campaign publicly against land-grabbing and intimidation of those who peacefully protested against such practice.
