Amicus Curiae Brief Filed by FIDH, CCR, HRW, Amnesty International and ICJ before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit

Brief argues the US government can not deport Mr. Khouzam, an Egyptian citizen, relying on "diplomatic assurances" from Egypt

On 22 April 2008, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), its member organisation in the USA, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), Human Rights Watch (HRW), Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) filed an amicus curiae brief before the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, involving an appeal against the deportation of an Egyptian national from the United States in reliance upon "diplomatic assurances" from the Egyptian government. The amici argue in particular that diplomatic assurances from Egypt are unreliable and can not be seen as an effective safeguard against torture and a guarantee for humane treatment.
