On 26 June 2026, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) together with a group of Sudanese and International organisations asked the United Nations Human Rights Council to urgently address the situation in and around El Obeid, North Kordofan, in Sudan and to take bold steps towards atrocity prevention and accountability. Given signs of an imminent attack on the city by the Rapid Support Forces, urgent action is required to prevent atrocities to be committed. Read the Open Letter below.
