Paris, 6 May 2025. The documentary "Soudan, souviens-toi" is a unique account of the fall of Omar Al-Bachir’s regime in 2019. His dictatorship lasted 30 years. The documentary by French-Tunisian filmmaker and journalist Hind Meddeb focuses on the journey of young Sudanese men and women who defy military repression and decide to fight for democracy using their creativity and the immeasurable power of words.
"FIDH and its Sudanese member organisations stand alongside young people in their struggle for their rights and their future", declared Maryse Artiguelong, Vice President, FIDH. "This film serves to remind us that, even if the conflict has remained below the media radar, what the people of Sudan are going through tragic. A tragedy made all the more cruel by the fact that the revolution which led to the fall of the dictator Omar Al-Bashir generated immense hope for democracy in young people whose only aspiration was freedom. This hope has been betrayed by the scandalous silence of the international community."
Since the start of the war in 2023, more than 12 million people have been displaced, thousands have died or been injured, and half the population is threatened with starvation.
