Mali: Four Former Junta Leaders Charged with Complicity to Murder

On 13 and 14 February 2014, four senior officials of the former junta were charged with “complicity to murder” for their alleged involvement in the murder of 21 Red Berets in April 2012. Seventeen other members of the military were also charged in the same case in November 2013.

The FIDH, its member organization, the AMDH and the 21 victims’ families joined the judicial proceedings as civil parties. After 21 bodies were exhumed on 3 December 2013, FIDH and the AMDH filed a request with the investigating judge for reclassification of charges against the accused to "assassination and murder".
