A year after the adoption of the transitional constitutional Declaration, this online event will provide an assessment of the human rights situation in Sudan to the diplomatic community working around the UN Human Rights Council’s Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on Sudan. To go beyond the political challenges of a fragile agreement between the military, private militias and the representatives of the civilian protests and fighting a surge of cases of Covid-19, the event will highlight key issues that need to be tackled by the authorities, areas where OHCHR and third parties support is needed, and suggest recommendations to improve the human rights situation in the country.
The event is organised by the African Center for Justice and Peace Studies (ACJPS), Cairo Institute for HumanRights Studies (CIHRS), CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, CSW, DefendDefenders (East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project), Human Rights Watch (HRW), International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Justice Centre for Advocacy and Legal Consultations (JCALC), and REDRESS.
