Side event
Depth of the treaty on business and human rights: overcoming some challenges in defining the corporate entities covered by the treaty
Tuesday 24 October , 13.30-15.00
Palais des Nations UN Geneva
Room XXII

The side event takes place in the context of the third session of the open-ended intergovernmental working group (IGWG), from 23 to 27 October 2017 in Geneva, where substantive negotiations should start on the process of elaboration of an international legally binding instrument to regulate the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises.

The side event, as detailed here, will provide some insight and perspective on the scope of the international instrument through concrete cases and legal analysis. It will study how the restriction to transnational corporations in the draft elements presented by Ecuador could be understood and how could the negotiations contribute to deepening the scope.
