European Commission: The need to include a European Civil Society Strategy

Brussels, 21 June 2022 — The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and 300 civil society organisations (CSOs) from across Europe call on the European Commission to include in the 2023 work programme a proposal for a European Civil Society Strategy. The call for a Civil Society Strategy has been a long-term demand of CSOs at the European and national levels. It is supported by a European Parliament resolution on the shrinking space for civil society in Europe passed in March 2022 and recommendation 36.8 of the Conference on the Future of Europe’s final report.
