Kazakhstan : At least 13 dead and dozens wounded during demonstrations
Peaceful protests have been taking place in the Manghystau region since May 2011 after a thousand workers were fired. On 16 December, around 150 protesters gathered in Janaozen to demand respect for their labour rights. The security forces violently repressed the demonstration leading to the death of at least 13 persons.
