FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) is an international NGO working for a world where the dignity and human rights of all people are respected and fulfilled. The FIDH International Secretariat is a human-sized organisation (47 employees in Paris and several offices abroad), composed of a committed international team. Our offices are located in a lively and central area of Paris (near Bastille and Gare de Lyon).

We are recruiting a : HEAD of WOMEN’S RIGHTS DESK (M/F)

General objective of the position : To lead the Women’s Rights Desk in the elaboration of the strategy, the development and implementation of the Office’s activities, and the animation of the network of FIDH members and partners.

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations and Programmes, you will work in close collaboration with the Departements of Operations & Programmes (DOP), of Advocacy (DOIG), of Communication and Fundraising.

Your main responsibilities will include

A. Participate in the operational implementation of the strategy of the Women’s Rights Desk in consultation with the teams of the Operations & Programmes Department, the member leagues and the partner organisations of the FIDH:
◦ Contribute to the monitoring and adaptation of the annual 2021 action plan and to the development of the 2022 action plan.

B. Facilitate and strengthen the links with internal and external actors :
◦ Facilitate a good communication from and to FIDH member and partner organisations in contact with
the desk to foster a collaborative relationship,
◦ Ensure a fluid flow of timely information towards members of FIDH International Bureau and Executive Board, the Presidency when necessary, the delegations to international organisations (European Union, United Nations, African Union, International Criminal Court), the relevant FIDH / Leagues offices and joint programmes (Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, etc.) involved in activities on women’s rights

C. Contribute to the search for funding for the Women’s Rights Strategy
◦ Contribute to the funding strategy and coordinate funding opportunities ;
◦ Contribute to the development of specific programmes for donors.

D. Implement the Desk’s activities
◦ Oversee the validation of activities and public documents with FIDH policy makers and relevant internal persons ;
◦ Oversee and implement activities which may include :
- Advocacy activities in consultation with the Advocacy Department and delegations ;
- Production/translation/dissemination of external FIDH publications (fact-finding mission reports, activity reports) and internal documents ;
- Capacity building activities, in particular training in the documentation of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) ;
- Communication activities in consultation with the Communication Departement.

E. Ensure reporting & evaluation of the activities under the Women’s Rights strategy :
◦ Contribute to the evaluation of the Women’s Rights Desk’s activities ;
◦ Monitoring and evaluation taking into account a gender approach
◦ Contribute to the drafting of FIDH internal reporting materials concerning the Women’s Rights activities ;
◦ Prepare reports on the "women’s rights" component (narrative report) for donors.

F. Implement logistical and administrative taks linked to the activities of teh Women’s Rights Desk

Desired profile

• You have a university degree (Master 2) or a degree from a prestigious university (Bac+5). You are specialised in international law, with a thorough knowledge of human rights and in particular those relating to women’s rights and you have an expertise in gender issues ;
• At least 6 years of professional experience in women’s rights, in particular in an NGO environment ;
• Very good knowledge of women’s rights issues, in particular sexual and gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive rights and the feminist or women’s rights CSO environment ;
• At least 5 years experience in project engineering (project cycle, logical framework, design, monitoring and evaluation with a gender approach) ;
• Experience in research and documentation (information gathering, including testimonies), in particular in the field of human rights ;
• In addition to French (level C2), fluency in English is essential (level C1). Knowledge of Spanish is an asset. 
• You will have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy working in a team and have excellent writing, analysis, prioritisation and synthesis skills. You are also rigorous, organised and proactive. You have multiple skills and have a good capacity to adapt.

Terms and conditions of employment
6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of transformation into a permanent contract subject to the achievement of the objectives set at the beginning of the mission and the available funding.
Executive status (Cadre). Position based in Paris. Salary 41,6 K€ gross per year over 13 months. 12 days RTT over the period. Supplementary health insurance covered at 80% by the FIDH. Meal vouchers €9 and 60% paid by the FIDH. 50% of the cost of public transport passes will be covered.
