FIDH’s headquarters are in Paris, France. FIDH’s International Secretariat is composed of around 70 employees, with a multi-disciplinary background. They are based in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. It is structured into an Operations and Programs Department and an Advocacy Department, as well as Support Departments (Communications, Finance and Administration, Partnerships and Development, Human Resources).

As a federal movement, FIDH operates on the basis of interaction with its member organisations. It ensures that FIDH merges in-country experience and knowledge with expertise in international law, mechanisms of protection and intergovernmental bodies. This unique combination translates into joint actions between FIDH and its member organisations at national, regional and international levels to remedy human rights violations and consolidate processes of democratisation.

One of FIDH’s priorities is to ensure that economic players respect human rights. In order to contribute to the achievement of the objectives set within the framework of this programmatic priority, FIDH is recruiting a new person in the “Human Rights and Globalization” team, responsible for coordinating its activities on the theme of “human rights and sustainable investment”.

Since 2001, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and La Banque Postale Asset Management (LBPAM) have been working in partnership on a socially responsible investment fund for human rights entitled SRI Human Rights (formerly Libertés et Fonds de solidarité), a revolutionary example of cooperation between an NGO and an investor on improving respect for human rights by companies and states. The fund is composed of 70% government bonds and 30% equities. All the bonds and equities in the fund are selected by LBPAM on the basis of an assessment carried out by FIDH concerning respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms by the governments and companies that issue them. FIDH has developed a dedicated methodology for undertaking these assessments, covering human rights.
