The side event takes place in the context of the third session of the open-ended intergovernmental working group (IGWG), from 23 to 27 October 2017 in Geneva, where substantive negotiations should start on the process of elaboration of an international legally binding instrument to regulate the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises.
The panel, as detailed here, will bring experiences of human rights defenders from different regions in order to demonstrate the need for specific language in the international instrument that could address the risks and challenges faced by defenders on the ground.
