Synopsis
Every hour an area of rainforest the size of 300 football pitches is destroyed by palm oil producers. The situation is similar for other profitable crops. As a result, vast areas of agricultural land in Asia, Africa and even Europe fall into the hands of international investors.

Instead of growing food for the region, farmlands are used for large-scale production destined for Western markets. Land Grabbing presents testimony from around the world about this business practice and the power of money, which prevails over the needs of local communities.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of human rights experts and front-line human rights defenders:

  • Gaelle Dusepulchre, Permanent Representative to the EU, FIDH
  • Tatiana Villacieros, Grants Manager, Protection International
  • Tonico Benites, indigenous rights defender, Guarani-Kaiowá (Brasil), Front Line Defenders
  • Moderator: Paige Morrow, Head of Brussels Operations, Frank Bold
