In a context of absolute climate urgency confirmed by the numerous reports published by the IPCC each year and international conferences, the Mobile Film Festival joins forces with YouTube Creators for Change and UN Climate Change for its 15th edition. The next Conference of the Parties, COP 25, will be held in Chile from 2 to 13 December 2019.
The Mobile Film Festival has chosen to be part of the action by joining the campaign ACT NOW on climate change launched by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
The edition is also based on the platform "Résister et Créer" published by the collective "ON EST PRÊT" at the Cannes Film Festival 2019, which invited film professionals to get involved on this existential question by recalling that " these are the stories that shape our common imagination. "
For this edition, the Mobile Film Festival returns with the rules that made its success: 1 Mobile, 1 Minute, 1 Film, while imposing on the directors a theme : ACT NOW on climate change. The filmmakers are invited to submit films presenting desirable future that are being built right now through numerous initiatives from around the world by committed citizens and NGOs.
For 15 years, the Mobile Film Festival has been defending the values of equality and discovery by eliminating economic constraints through the use of mobiles and free registration at the festival, while highlighting the creativity of directors who must tell a story in one minute maximum.
FIDH is proud to be a partner of this event, which gives a voice to filmmakers from all geographical and cultural horizons, resulting in strong, committed and plural films. It is in this perspective that the festival developped partnerships with YouTube Creators for Change and UN Climate Change.
The Mobile Film Festival will award € 46,000 in creative scholarships. The prizes will be awarded by a jury composed of personalities from the world of cinema, media and committed to environmental issues.
We still have time but the clock is ticking - so let’s ACT NOW on climate change!
