Occupied Palestinian territory: the end of the Orange and Partner contract within 2 years at most.

On 30 June 2015, the Orange Group announced that it would terminate, within two years at most, its partnership contract with Israeli telecommunications company, Partner, which operates in the Israeli colonies, illegal under international law.

This announcement is a victory for the respect of human rights and for civil society organisations which have been calling on Orange for several years now to terminate this business relationship with Partner in respect of human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian Territory to which it contributed indirectly through this agreement.

Indeed, five years have passed since the first warnings were launched by the unions. At the beginning of May 2015, FIDH and its partners (including its member organisations in France the LDH and in Palestine Al Haq) published a joint report calling for the termination of this business relationship. Several letters were sent to the Orange Group and to the French government, and several follow up meetings took place to encourage them to take concrete measures with respect to their respective human rights obligations and responsibilities.
