Fatou Bensouda, ICC Prosecutor, Visits FIDH

On 31 March 2015, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, honoured FIDH with a visit to FIDH headquarters in Paris. Ms. Bensouda, along with senior members of her staff, met with FIDH staff and Board Members in our offices and via video conference.

We held lengthy discussions on the opportunities and challenges currently facing the Office of the Prosecutor, as well as specific situations of international crimes.

The cordial exchange and discussions with Ms. Bensouda represent a significant recognition of the cooperation between FIDH and the Office of the Prosecutor and our shared commitment to fighting impunity for international crimes.

FIDH has enjoyed a close relationship with the Court and the OTP since its beginnings. FIDH and its member organisations have submitted communications to the Prosecutor on 15 situations, enabled a closer interaction between local civil society and the OTP and have actively contributed to consultations on the prosecutorial policy and strategy, including on sexual and gender-based crimes.

FIDH has also maintained a Permanent Representation to the ICC in The Hague since 2004.
