Film-making – a weapon of large-scale revelation

Many film-makers present us, through adventures that may at times be realistic, at times be more romantic, facets of the world and aspects of humanity that we would rather not see or know about, but that we are nonetheless compelled to militate against.

As a tribute to this genre of engaging political films which will help us keep our eyes open, FIDH and the large French book and media chain Fnac are launching a DVD set consisting of 3 films – two feature-length films and one fiction documentary which, each in their own way, will present an insight into the activism of our organisation, and will help to reveal “forgotten” situations on a large scale.

Three of the most magnificent and fascinating films of our age - three instructive, useful and quite simply necessary films:
Lord of War, by Andrew Niccol
The Road to Guantanamo, by Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross
 Shooting Dogs by Michael Caton-Jones.

This box, which has been designed by the agency Dream-on, will be sold exclusively at the 70 Fnac outlets as well as via the website www.fnac.com, at the rather inexpensive cost of € 24.99 beginning on 23 November.

The entire proceeds from its sales will be paid to FIDH to support its actions around the world:
GRANTING JUSTICE to victims by initiating and supporting legal proceedings
STRIVING FOR a globalisation that will allow greater respect for Human Rights
SAFEGUARDING the respect for Human Rights in the legitimate fight against terrorism
PROTECTING Human Rights defenders, who are regularly exposed to threats
