The guide aims to support civil society organisations working around the accession process. It describes in detail the functioning of the OECD, the three stages of the accession process, and explains how this procedure works for candidate countries wishing to join the organisation.
Following the formal opening of accession discussions, the OECD will prepare individual roadmaps for the detailed assessment process, to confirm that these new countries adhere to the organisation’s values, vision and priorities.
The guide particularly focuses on how civil society organisations can take advantage of the committee review period and demand important policy reforms in candidate states.
