On 25 April 2023, the European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee voted on its position on the upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Through this position, members of parliament can try to improve the European Commission’s proposal for a stronger protection of human rights from corporate abuses.
As EU institutions move closer to negotiating a final text, FIDH and 23 other human rights and environmental civil society organisations called on EU representatives to support the protection of the internationally-recognised rights of Indigenous Peoples, of other peoples and of local communities.
