Each year, FIDH guides over 60 member association representatives through the maze of the principal UN bodies and their sessions. It enables civil society from particularly closed countries such as Algeria, China, Sudan, Syria or Vietnam to inform the UN about the human rights situation in these countries and to challenge the international community.

In the context of the United Nations Human Rights Council and sub-Commission, FIDH thus offers human rights defenders a unique opportunity to communicate directly with control body members, United Nations officials and representatives of governments and non-government organisations.
