Today, FIDH made two joint submissions for the third Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Thailand.
One joint submission, prepared with the Internet Law Reform Dialogue (iLaw) and the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), presents information related to: legislation that is inconsistent with relevant international standards; attacks and harassment against human rights defenders; violations of the right to freedom of opinion and expression and the right to freedom of peaceful assembly; the situation of children; and enforced disappearances.
A separate joint submission, prepared with the Union for Civil Liberty (UCL), focuses on the death penalty and prison conditions in Thailand.
Thailand’s third UPR is scheduled to take place in October 2021.
