At its 27th session, the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) adopted a resolution on Yemen covering a wide range of issues, concerns and areas of progress. It includes a reference to the recent armed violence, as a result of, among other things, the briefing FIDH organized with HRITC President and FIDH Vice-President Ezzeddin Al-Asbahi and diplomatic missions (see Ezzeddin Al-Asbahi’s interview at the HRC). The Council unambiguously recognized the need for accountability for human rights violations committed in 2011, as well as for a transitional justice law in line with international standards. FIDH will remain mobilized to ensure that accountability mechanisms are put in place and effective, be they national or international, so as to realize the victims’ right to remedies.
