The UN declares human rights defender Nabeel Rajab’s detention arbitrary and orders the Bahraini government to immediately comply with its decision and release Nabeel Rajab with due compensation.
The decision was adopted by the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and recently made public.
FIDH has actively campaigned to secure Nabeel’s release since his first arrest on 5 May 2012 and this UN opinion follows their address to the WGAD on the 31st of August 2012 challenging the legality of his detention.
