World Social Forum 2005 under the sign of human rights

Paris, 26 January 2005 - FIDH is very pleased with the importance given to human rights in the World Social Forum (WSF) to be held from 26 to 31 January in Porto Alegre. Human rights, as a theme, includes over 450 activities, which makes the leading theme of this year’s Forum. FIDH is co-organising the following activities:

Antiterrorism and human rights

Partnering with the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) and Human Rights Watch (HRW)

This seminar is the main event of human rights defence organisations.

Another seminar will be held as part of the caucus on 30 January to analyse the discussions and consider the future of the human rights movement in future forums.
