The World Congress, gathering abolitionists from across the world, is organized by Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort (ECPM) in partnership with the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty, to which FIDH is a member of the Steering Committee. In particular, FIDH will be represented by its Secretary General and Academic Ms. Florence Bellivier, and Ms. Shirin Ebadi, Iranian lawyer and 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate as well by many other personalities members of the FIDH network. FIDH together with Murder Victims’ Families for Human Rights (MVFHR) are organising a round table on the topic “Victims, Violence and Death Penalty: How to respond to violence and compensate Victims without the Death Penalty”, on February 25th .

“On the occasion of the 4th World Congress, FIDH and its affiliated members reiterate their call for the universal abolition of this inhuman practice in accordance with international human rights standards”, declared Souhayr Belhassen, President of FIDH.
