Laos: an overview of human rights violations
The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organisation, the Lao Movement for Human Rights (MLDH), prepared a briefing Paper for the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM9), Vientiane, Laos
5-6 November 2012.
The briefing paper covered the following issues and made recommendations to both the Government of Lao PDR and visiting heads of government or state from European and Asian countries:
– Freedom of expression, assembly and association
– Arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances
– Religious freedom
– Minorities
– Land grabbing
