On the 7th of August, the ECCC tribunal condemned Khieu Samphan, former head of state, and “Brother N°2” Nuon Chea, former ideologist of the Khmer Rouge regime, to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity. FIDH actively represented 10 victims living in France, and with its member organization in Cambodia, ADHOC, enabled 56 civil parties living in France and in Cambodia to attend the hearings and witness this historic verdict, issued almost 40 years after the infamous era of the Khmer Rouge.
