On the eve of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) launches a strong appeal to the international community and political leaders who will attend this world event. Chinese civil society and citizens are still victims of harsh repression when fighting for the respect of their fundamental rights (above: a picture of a house to be demolished, marked by inhabitants as a sign of protest - forced evictions remain a serious concern affecting the whole country).
